Khun Khan National Park campsite in Chiang Mai sits in a quiet valley with the Mae Khan stream flowing through and a nature trail nearby. Located in Samoeng district, about 70 km from Chiang Mai city, the route goes Chiang Mai to Mae Rim to Samoeng to Khun Khan on a fully paved but winding mountain road suitable for sedans, pickups, and SUVs. The campsite has space for both regular camping and car camping, and campers are advised to bring a power bank or power station since phone signal is patchy and inconsistent in the valley. About 15 km from the park office is Tham Luang Mae Sap, home to the Rainbow Cave with striped gray, white, and yellow walls, stalactites and stalagmites, and around 144 meters of passage to explore. A small welfare shop, Khun Khan Café & Bistro, operates roughly 08:30-16:30 with simple dishes like fried egg rice, but nearby options are limited, so stocking up on supplies in Samoeng town beforehand is recommended. Entrance fees are 20 THB for Thai adults, 10 THB for Thai children, 100 THB for foreign adults, and 50 THB for foreign children. Checking the campsite status and road conditions with the park before traveling is advised, especially during rainy season.
