Ratchaburi is the province where a single valley became western Thailand's camping capital. Nearly every pitch sits along the Suan Phueng–Ban Kha corridor, following the Phachi river and the Tenasserim foothills on the Myanmar border — mountain atmosphere about two and a half hours from Bangkok, no drive north required.

Suan Phueng is the livelier side — cafes, restaurants and daytime landmarks, with many neatly laid-out grounds. Ban Kha, deeper south, is quieter and darker, with clearer stars; campers after the rawer feel tend to continue there. The two sides hold near-equal numbers of camps, so pick by temperament.
Late rains into winter is this valley's peak: November to January brings cool nights and frequent morning mist — book ahead for Saturdays and long weekends. Hot-season days are hot but mountain air keeps nights tolerable; in the rains the valley turns deep green and the Phachi runs strong, so favour pitches set back from the bank.
Valley roads mix climbs and bends; sedans reach nearly every camp, but allow time and avoid night driving if you're new to it. The last big fuel stop is around Suan Phueng town — fill up before continuing into Ban Kha.
