Didn't go to the summit but walked around the Mae Jai stream road that went for quite a way. Walked around the hot springs. Spent a good 7 hours there with eating and coffee. Extremely well kept areas, clean bathroom facilities. An amazing experience, very relaxing. We do birding and and there was plenty of activity to keep us interested. Beautiful place.
Recommend for hiking 🥾 and picnic 🧺 for everyone who needs inner peace, natural beauty, so beautiful place to visit 😍
I see many reviews mentioning that you have to pay quite a lot for this trip. There are different routes to the top. If you take the tourist route, you indeed have to pay 300 baht and rent a jeep (expensive and not nice to sit there) to get up there (the official starting point is next to the hot springs). But you can also go up the way the locals do, and this route is perfectly manageable with a scooter. That way you save a lot of money, and it’s absolutely doable. I also noticed that some people say it gets cold at night. You’ll be given a sleeping bag, and you can rent an extra blanket if needed. So that’s perfectly fine. As for the climb, it’s definitely achievable in 2 hours and 30 minutes, even with regular breaks. If you start around 3:30 a.m., keep in mind that you’ll spend some time at the top, and it can be quite chilly there. Red circle: Last picture is how the local road is :)
Beautiful views of surrounding mountains with a sea of fog rolling out. After an early morning hike of about 1hr 15 mins we arrived at the peak around 5:30. it started getting light around 20 mins later. definitely recommend but dress warm in the cooler months, it was 7c in early dec.
My friends and I went there in a rainy day. It was a bit dangerous since the road was very slippery. I was so happy when we reached camping zone. Ha ha. The air was so fresh! I thought the restrooms were quite dirty. Moreover, they turned the light off at night. So, it was dark. Flashlight was needed. Internet connection was poor over there. I loved the nature there. It was wonderful!
