Dome Tent

(Geodesic tents are the sturdier cousin, adding extra crossing poles for serious weather.) They are lightweight, easy to transport, and simple to pack away. Dome tents are perfect for general campers and work well in most weather conditions found throughout Thailand. Their versatility makes them suitable for solo travelers and small groups alike.

Tunnel Tent

Tunnel tents have a long, tube-like shape that provides considerably more interior space than a dome tent of similar size. This makes them ideal for families or larger groups who need extra room. The trade-off is that a tunnel tent is not freestanding — it only holds its shape once pegged out and guyed, which makes it a poor choice on rock, hardpan or a wooden platform where stakes will not bite. It also handles wind less forgivingly than a dome unless you pitch the narrow end into the wind.

Bell Tent
