This is a dam with some lovely views of greenery on the mountain sides. They have a pier where you can rent a kayak and go out on the water which is quite fun and you really feel a part of nature (50 baht pp). They are 2 ways you can drive for different views. The side road next to the dam where the pier is and the 'dam' side where the road goes straight across. They have some snacks for sale and you can watch a great sunset from here.
• Wang Bon Reservoir is a hidden gem not far from the city. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, making it a nice spot to relax. • There are a few small local shops offering food and snacks, and kayaking is available for those who want some activity on the water. • 5 stars for those who prefer peaceful place.
This reservoir treats you to breathtaking panoramic views, where calm waters meet green horizons. For just 50 baht per person, you can hop on a kayak and glide across the water, taking in the scenery around the reservoir and even catching sight of a nearby waterfall.
This place isn’t your manicured garden or landscaped parks. It is, however, quaint and raw, and clean. There are waterfalls you can kayak to, and get up close with. We went during rainy season, so not sure how much water is flowing in other months. There are small trails along the water to walk along with little rocky outcrops to take photos on. The kayaking was very enjoyable with plenty of space on the water to paddle along. We’ve been to a reservoir in Rayong with kayaking, but there had narrow channels and larger boats to compete with. A positive point was the price at just 50baht per person with no time limit. They have life jackets available in many sizes. I would recommend this place as a side trip if you are heading in and out of the south entrance of Khao Yai National Park.
There's not much here apart from a half decent view. I can understand the attraction for camping as it seems very quiet. I noticed only one tent in the area. There doesn't seem to be any facilities to talk about. Entrance looks abandoned. Update May 2025. Revisited, and if you drive further into the reservoir, there is a visitor centre, not open. Kayak for rent 50 baht per person. A better view. However, it's still rundown and needs funding. Street lights are broken. Weeds are overgrown. Plenty parking. Toilets were available. Updated June 2025. Visited at the weekend, and there were vendors on site. Food and drink available. It's much better and appealing.
