Dong E Mu Camping
Loei
4.8(10)฿100–150 / person
Dong E Mu Camping in Loei province sits atop a 950-metre peak in Phu Ruea district, offering unobstructed 360-degree mountain views and a ridgeline trail locals call the "Sky Road". This campsite in Loei is community-run by village residents and charges 100–150 THB per person. Clean toilets are available on-site, but there is no electricity, no water supply, and no food for sale, so campers must bring everything they need. Winter is the prime season — temperatures can drop to single digits, winds blow strongly through the night, and the sea of mist is at its thickest. The rainy season turns the hillside green with drifting mist. Midday sun can be intense due to the open terrain, so a tarp or groundsheet for shade is recommended. The concrete road to the summit is about 3 km long with some steep sections, but small sedans can make the drive. For GPS navigation, pin Wat Pa Muang Khai — do not search "Dong E Mu" directly as it leads to a dead end — then follow the left-turn sign up the hill.
