Definately worth waking up early to see the mist on the water and go on a boat ride. Beautiful birds and if you follow the road all the way past the campsite and keep going around the lake you will come to a conservation section. The area is to protect and breed a small frog that’s existance is being threatened by human consumption.
Very serene corner of Thailand This is one of my bucket list. It is among one of the most remote location in Thailand. It is a 5 and a half hour drive from Chiang Mai. I was staying at Baan Rak Thai but in hindsight I would have prefered to camp here. The fresh morning breeze over the lake. The pretty pine plantation. Quaint little township with smidgen of shops and eating along the street. This would have been nature healing 101. Only spent a couple of hours here, would have love to spent 2-3 days here.
The lake is just a lake🤣 For 150 baht, you can take a ride on a bamboo boat. They say you can sometimes see swans.
Very nice place here. There are camping sites and also bamboo rafting if you want to "tour" around the lake. There's a mini bridge where you could cross over to take beautiful lake scenery and also a swan couple sculpture with 3 cygnet. There are lots of accommodation if you would like to spend time in that area. Very peaceful and serene but there a lot of tourist like us that dropby for awhile and leave. Just for that few shots of photos if you are on the way or wanting to do some activities.
A wonderful camping spot by the lake, giving you a feeling like you're in Switzerland. It’s located near Yunnan Village and Mae Hong Son. Camping tents can be rented for 500 baht per night. Boating on the lake is available for 150 baht for two people for about 30–45 minutes. You can also see the Royal Queen’s black swans at the far end of the lake—great for photo opportunities, and a place that many locals also love to visit. Please note that the mist depends on the weather, so it might not appear every day. There are no major petrol stations along the way, only small local pumps that cost about 50 baht per litre. So filling your tank in Pai or Mae Hong Son is highly recommended.
