The dining area had 30 lizards. The campsite was quite decent but the lower side had the worst bathrooms in history. Can’t even imagine how bad it was. The national park was good
Good for birds, poor facilities.
Ban Krang campsite is a shady, refreshing campsite where cool breezes flow all day. Surrounded by nature, it offers a tranquil atmosphere that makes it perfect for pitching a tent and enjoying the outdoors.
Small bar...but the most successful alcohol bar in the entire famous Chiang Mai night market. Courtesy and drinks are outstanding.
The biggest national park in Thailand, a very beautiful and preserved forest area with asphalt road winding thought, very scenic ride. Many animals can be potencially spotted including elephants which also sometimes wonder into the campsite. All good but - the management is a complete disaster! I travel and visit parks all over the world and I never had worse camping experience then here. In 2025 I have came twice, first when it was a monsoon season, the camp was peaceful and had a good night sleep, there were only few hardened true bird watchers knowing how to behave in such protected area. After some months later I happily came back and all was pretty packed with Thai tourists. The amount of people isn't even such an issue as it is their behavior and one of camp rangers also. All evening the were making noise and talk loudly, many people. That went deep into the night with not only talking but almost shouting loudly, doing grill and partying. That would be all fine but you don't do this in the national park where people come to enjoy quiet, wildlife and the natural serenity. I had my hammock and could not sleep all the night. Around 4 a clock I thought is gonna finally settle down but then all the people become waking up and starting car engines - they drive to the upper camp to see the sunrise. A complete nightmare and chaos. Not only insesible Thai tourist made all the noise but even some group of the rangers that work in the park. They were smoking and talking loudly at about 11:00pm and later, also talking loudly on phone at the camp area where some people try to sleep. I have never seen something like that before and I think the management should be checked and changed. For comparison, I went to Khao Yai national park which is more famous and visited, they were much more people and it was much more silent and well behaved, without barbecues also or partying because the management there is more strict and doing their job properly to keep the place in order. It is a shame here because it is a very nice place. I hope someone make an effort to change for better. Also if you come here, you really should go to the other camp on top of the mountains, it is incredible. You can only go by 4x4 in the morning. Can also hitchike with some otherwise friendly Thai people going up.
