Mu Ko Surin in Phang Nga runs two campsites that rotate with the season — Ao Chong Khard from 15 October to 30 November, then Ao Mai Ngam from 1 December to 15 May. The park keeps around seventy tents for rent: 300 THB a night for a two-person tent and 450 THB for a three-person, with a bedding set at 60 THB per person. Pitching your own tent costs 80 THB per person per night.
Note that Mu Ko Similan no longer permits camping — the park withdrew it to cap visitor numbers, and the islands now offer no overnight accommodation at all, so day trips from Khao Lak are the only way to visit. Both parks close for the southwest monsoon and reopen on 15 October, which makes island camping in the South a cool-season activity by definition. Book through the Department of National Parks, and keep the park's phone number as a fallback.

The lakeside location offers a quiet atmosphere with a cooling breeze, particularly pleasant when the water is calm. Facilities include simple and reasonably clean restrooms with a dishwashing area, electricity, and water supply. Large dome tents are available under open-air shelters for those without their own equipment. A small shop on site sells food, beverages, and basic convenience items. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, swimming, and viewing the sea of mist from designated viewpoints along the beach. The site charges 150 baht per person per night, and equipment rental is available.
