Uthai Thani borders the Huai Kha Khaeng forest, and camping here has grown quickly in recent years. Almost all of the 14 grounds we list are small, locally run private camps, spread across Ban Rai, Lan Sak and the area around Hup Pa Tat.
Prices sit in a narrow band of ฿100–250 per person per night, mostly ฿150–200. Comfort is above average: every ground has toilets, nine in ten have showers and more than eight in ten have electricity — but only about one in five rents gear.

Ban Rai has the most camps, especially around Sanam, where small grounds sit on creeks and in orchards; some cap nightly numbers to avoid crowding, and some take a single group. Around Hup Pa Tat in Lan Sak there are camps with limestone views, good for visiting the valley and staying the night. On the Thap Salao dam side there is a waterside ground next to Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, with fishing and boat trips — the most forested feel of the three.
November to February is cool and dry, and nights at camps near the forest are colder than you would expect. Late rains, around September and October, bring vivid green paddies and hills, with water in the creeks — good if rain does not bother you. The hot season is hot and dry and the forest sheds its leaves: choose a ground with big trees and power for a fan.
Ban Rai is about 250 km from Bangkok, roughly three hours by road. Most camps are small with limited numbers, so nearly all need booking — this is not a province for turning up and looking. Bring your own tent and gear, since few camps rent, and only about a third have a restaurant: cooking for yourself is easier.
