Laan Koei Camping & Cafe is a campsite in Samut Prakan where visitors can dig for cockles barefoot in mangrove mudflats, a rare activity near Bangkok. Located in Khlong Dan, Bang Bo district, it's an easy day trip from the city. Entry to the shellfish-digging activity costs 100 baht, while camping is 200 baht per person with children aged 7-10 free of charge, or 1,500 baht to reserve the whole tent area for 7 people. The site has toilets, showers, food and drinks for sale, and power outlets under shady trees with constant sea breeze. Guests can also take a boat tour through a mangrove tunnel to a fishing village, kayak or paddle a SUP board, join a one-day sea fishing boat trip, birdwatch for resident and migratory species, and enjoy sunset views over the sea. Booking ahead is required, check-in is 2:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. The cockle-digging season closes at the end of June, though camping and dining continue year-round.
