Atmosphere

The campsite sits by a lake in Suphan Buri, far enough from the crowds that nights are filled with nothing but wind and water sounds. Daytime weather is typical Thai heat, but once the sun goes down the wind turns genuinely cold, so pack something warm. Sunrise over the water in the morning and the sunset in the evening are the most photogenic moments of the day here.

Water & swimming

The water is the main stage here. Beyond enjoying the view, there are lake activities on offer: kayaking, boat rides, fishing, and swimming. Paddling out on a kayak in the late afternoon gives the clearest angle on the sunset. Shaded spots line the shore for sitting back. If you want to pitch right by the water, check the condition of the grass with the staff first, as at times it isn't suitable for staking a tent.

Best time to go

The best window to visit is the cool season into early summer, when the all-night breeze makes tent camping here worthwhile. Daytime still follows typical Thai seasonal heat, so those sensitive to heat should avoid the peak of hot season with its strong midday sun. In the rainy season the grass field and lake activities can be affected, so it's worth checking the weather and asking ahead before setting out.
