Doi Tapang is a natural tourist destination in Chumphon Province, located in Village 7, Khao Thalu Subdistrict, Sawi District. Situated approximately 500 meters above sea level and 70 kilometers from Chumphon town, it offers 360-degree panoramic views perfect for sunrise watching and sea of mist viewing among uniquely shaped limestone mountains. Visitors can see Khao Thalu mountain, which gives its name to both the mountain and subdistrict. The ascent requires a rugged 3-kilometer journey by local four-wheel-drive vehicles due to the steep and dangerous terrain, taking approximately 20-30 minutes. The summit features Lan Lom Choy camping area with toilets and shower facilities, plus AIS and True mobile network coverage. However, there are no shops or restaurants on-site, so visitors must bring their own food and water. The meeting point is at Malila Coffee in Khao Thalu Subdistrict. The site is accessible year-round and offers excellent opportunities for stargazing, photography, and experiencing the serene mountain atmosphere with minimal crowds on weekdays.
