What makes it special: The view is what stays with people. The tents sit in a quiet valley with forested hills and the stream as a backdrop to every pitch. Trees around the grounds keep it shady, and the day-long breeze makes it easy to linger outside the tent for hours. All of this comes at a low per-person price, which makes the drive out here easy to justify.
Atmosphere: The campsite sits open to an almost constant breeze, keeping the air noticeably cooler than the lowlands. In the cool season the wind picks up enough that a jacket is worth packing. After dark, the ground is lit well enough to walk around easily. Because the site never fills up with crowds, the quiet here is real — no engine noise, no throngs of people, just birdsong drifting through the mornings. For genuine solitude in nature, this spot delivers.
