Enter via the Sai Thong National Park headquarters side — not the Sap Mongkhon checkpoint, which is used for the Thuang Bua Sawan 1 meadow.

Can I walk to other viewpoints from the campsite?

Yes, you can walk to Pha Ham Hot and Pha Hak Ko viewpoints, both are not far from the campsite. There is also a walking trail connecting both sides of the park.

When is it less crowded — good for a peaceful trip?

Outside of the dok kra-chiao (siam tulip) blooming season, the campsite is noticeably quieter. Sunday–Monday visits also tend to have fewer people.

What is the weather like at the campsite?

The weather is cool and pleasant, around 19°C, with light mist rolling through. These conditions are typical in late June.

Notes from our team

Atmosphere: The campground sits on a mountain in Chaiyaphum, with the grounds landscaped to open up a wide view of the valley below. There is a viewpoint and swings to relax on. Weekdays are very quiet with few visitors, so the grounds never feel crowded, though tents are best pitched away from the road, which gets quite dusty on the way up.
Getting there: Reaching the campground on a sport bike can be tricky, as the route is not easy for that kind of motorcycle. Dust is a defining feature of the access road, so allow extra travel time and bring a face mask or dust goggles for the ride up.
Facilities: Within the grounds there is a single shop that cooks food to order and sells drinks. The toilets and showers have been newly renovated, including a dedicated accessible restroom for elderly and disabled visitors, and the shower water runs well. Electricity switches off around 8 pm, so bringing a flashlight is advisable.
Best time to go: Mid-July is when the siam tulips bloom, the highlight of this area. Mornings bring mist that settles visibly around the grounds, making early hours the best time for photos. The air stays cool all day, while nights get fairly strong winds.
