SAFE HAVEN Khao Yai Thiang is a camping area situated on Khao Yai Thiang mountain in Chiang Mai province. The site has gained popularity among campers looking for an accessible mountain experience. Located on a cliff edge, the campground offers strong breezes throughout the day and considerably cold temperatures at night with thick fog settling in by morning. Facilities include restrooms, shower rooms, an on-site restaurant, Wi-Fi access, water supply, and viewpoints suitable for photography and observing the sea of mist. The location provides convenient road access for visitors. Check-in hours run from 11:00 to 20:00, with check-out at 11:00. Pets are permitted but require close supervision by their owners. Tarps pitched within the same area as group tents incur no additional charge, though separate tarp sites cost 200 baht per night. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance site reservations. The camping fee is 250 baht per person per night, and equipment rental is not available.

Notes from our team

Facilities
Bathrooms come in two spots, roomy and clean, with daily cleaning and no insects inside. Hot water works, and walkways stay lit at night so no flashlight needed. Do bring your own tissue though, as it isn't provided.
Quiet & crowds
Even on weekdays like Tuesday or Wednesday the lawn draws a fair crowd, though it doesn't fill up. Noise depends on your tent neighbors—one large group once chatted until almost 1 am, so light sleepers should pick a spot away from big groups.
Pets & families
Pets are welcome here. The tent lawn is laid out in stepped terraces, so families with kids or older relatives may want a hand on the stairs. When the wind picks up, staff suggest moving to a lower tier where it's noticeably calmer and easier to sleep.
