Atmosphere

The pitching terraces step up the hillside, and the upper level opens to wide views in every direction. The grounds are mostly open with little tree cover, so midday sun bites hard, but the air turns pleasantly cool toward evening and drops genuinely cold at night — pack warm layers. The night sky here is clear, ideal for lying back and stargazing from your tent.

Best time to go

Cool season brings out the best of this hill. Days stay comfortably cool while nights turn properly cold — great sleeping weather in a tent. Mornings are the time to walk up and take in the views from the upper terrace before the open, sparsely shaded ground heats up under the midday sun. If you're coming in this season, bring thick clothing for the nights.
