This forest-trekking route through Doi Tua Pheng, Pha Chi, and Pong Waterfall offers one of the most distinctive campsites in Phetchabun province, with a 180-degree mountain and sea-of-mist view from the Pha Chi camp. The full trek covers 18 kilometers over a 3-day, 2-night trip. Day one covers 7.22 km from Doi Tua Pheng to Pha Chi, where campers pitch tents on the ridge with panoramic views; there is no water source at the campsite itself, so campers must walk about 400 meters to fetch water. Phone signal is available here and there are no leeches. Day two covers 4.43 km to a streamside camp near the top of Pong Waterfall, not recommended for large groups; leeches start appearing but are not numerous, and it is about a 15-minute walk to Huai Pong Waterfall. Day three covers 5.62 km from the waterfall to the pickup point for four-wheel-drive trucks, starting with a steep, slippery descent and passing through a bamboo forest with heavy leech activity. A local guide from the Khek Noi community tourism enterprise is required; contact Khun Tua for arrangements.
