Nam Tok Pha Daeng Rai Chomphran

Kanchanaburi
3.8(5 reviews)

Nam Tok Pha Daeng Rai Chomphran is a campsite in Kanchanaburi province where you can pitch a tent right beside a waterfall and jump straight into the water from your tent door. Located in Thong Pha Phum district near the 3D Tunnel, it is open every day with no booking required. Tent camping costs just 60 baht per person per night, and cottages are also available for those who prefer not to sleep in a tent. All vehicle types, including motorhomes, can drive in easily without needing four-wheel drive. Phone signal from both AIS and True networks works fine here for internet use. The waterfall flows year-round, though water is lighter in the hot season, and visitors can climb up to soak in natural jacuzzi-like rock pools formed in tiers. The trail up is short but narrow, slippery, and steep, making it a fun challenge for kids. The top of the falls is also a good spot to watch the sunset. Electricity hookups and a food and drink shop are available on site.

Notes from our team

Water & swimming
Pha Daeng is a small waterfall with a pool at its base. When the flow is strong in the rainy season there is enough water to enjoy, but once the level drops the pool becomes shallow, good only for paddling rather than swimming. Water lovers get a much better experience when the falls are running full.
Best time to go
Timing matters a lot here. In the rainy season the waterfall carries plenty of water and looks its best, but by the late dry season around February the flow shrinks until only the cliff face is left. Anyone coming specifically for the waterfall should plan the trip for the rainy months.

In February there isn't much water. There is still a pool at the bottom where you can paddle but not swim. Only worth going in rainy season I think.
