Nunga Homestay in Mae Hong Son sits beside the Kikokho viewpoint at Ban Huai Hia, with mountain sunrises and sunsets 10 km from Ban Jabo. Up on a hilltop near Doi Tai Laeng at the Thai border, it has a homestay zone and a panoramic tent zone for camping in Mae Hong Son. Bring your own tent for 150 baht per person, or rent a tent with bedding for 200 baht per person. Traditional bamboo homestay is 250 baht per person, a room with private bathroom is 800 baht, and a 1,000 baht room adds a water heater, welcome on cold nights. Evenings are for sunset, then stars before bed; in the morning, Ban Jabo's sea of mist and sunrise is about a 15-minute drive, so no 4am alarm. Late rainy season (Aug-Sep) brings green hills and mist, while the cool season (Oct-Jan) is cold with starry skies. Local food is 100 baht per person, and moo kratha sets cost 400 or 550 baht, with Lahu chili dip. Guided jungle walks, forest cooking and waterfall trips are offered by a guide who knows local history. Sitting midway between Pai and Mae Hong Son town, it works as an overnight break on the Mae Hong Son Loop.

the best home stay i’ve ever stayed in, cute bamboo huts with the most incredible mountain view - the local food was amazing and the owner helped us light a fire outside our room. Can’t wait to come back thankyou so much for your hospitality
This place was absolutely the highlight of our trip. The host is so friendly and cooks very delicious local food. The views are breathtaking and the mountainside hut is very simple but comfortable to stay (if you are not afraid of various insects that are part of the nature). Thank you so much for your kind hospitality.
A beautiful place to spend the night! The staff were so lovely and kind, providing us with a fan in the lounge area and water. We are vegetarian so had the fried cabbage which was honestly SO delicious - and the man was very kind and helpful trying to establish what my friend (who is gluten-free) could eat despite the language barrier. So hospitable. The little hut had plenty of space and a very adequate bathroom, we loved the little veranda to sit and read and watch the sunset. The communal lounge area upstairs (just a shaded space with rugs to sit on) was perfect for our morning yoga too. The road from Pai is in good condition overall, a lot of bends and hilly but fine to get here by scooter! Thank you so much for a beautiful place to enjoy the peace and view of your village
