Atmosphere

The camping ground sits on a mountain in the Khao Yai area, laid out as several terraced zones stepping up the slope, so you can wander and find open mountain views in many directions. Once the sun goes down, the wind on the ridge turns cool enough to dig out a jacket, while the sky stays truly dark with no city glow interfering—look up and the stars fill the sky, and look down to see scattered lights twinkling along the surrounding hillsides at the same time.

Best time to go

The best time to come is the rainy through cool season, when the surrounding mountains turn fully green—unlike a visit in late February, when the trees dry out, little green remains, and the whole view fades to dusty yellow tones. If you want fresh green ridges paired with cool night breezes and lights scattered across the hills after dark, aim for before the dry season sets in, and pick one of the upper terraced zones where the 360-degree views open up.
