What makes it special

The signature image here is a wide-open view across the Kaeng Krachan reservoir, especially the lower grass field where you can drive down and pitch right near the water. Even in late dry-season March, when much of Thailand is heating up, the wind off the water stays cool all day. Sitting with the broad water in front of you and the reservoir breeze is the reward for making the trip in.

Atmosphere

The camping ground opens wide beside the reservoir, split into several zones of grass, dirt, and sand so campers can pitch to their own style. Days are sunny but a steady wind sweeps across the field and takes the edge off the heat. After dusk the temperature drops noticeably, and nights here are genuinely cold — at times windy enough to shake the tent, so bring solid pegs and a warm layer.
