Pa La-U Waterfall Campsite

Prachuap Khiri Khan
4.8(5 reviews)

Pa La-U Waterfall Campsite charges just 30 THB per adult per night — children camp free — putting a 15-tier waterfall about 60 km from Hua Hin within easy reach for campers in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Fees are paid at the Pa La-U Waterfall entrance unit. Two zones are available: Zone A sits directly alongside the stream, where wading is possible, and Zone B is an open forest clearing on the opposite bank, offering more separation between pitches. Clean toilets serve Zone A, though they require a fair walk from the pitches. There is no electricity on site; campfires are permitted in designated spots, and pets are welcome. AIS mobile signal works at a usable level. Temperatures run cool to cold, with strong winds possible at certain times. December brings the highest water volume at the falls, making it the best month to visit if seeing the waterfall at full flow is a priority. Hiking trails inside Kaeng Krachan National Park start from the campsite.

Just returned from these national park falls and very happy to have got up a bit earlier and driven here from Hua Hin. Drive about 1.2 hours and arrived at 9am. First people to arrive and had it to ourselves. If you want to get the most from this trip bring/wear trainers as the terrain from level 3-5 can be quite challenging. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and agility to navigate the trails across rocks and rocky tree rooted trails. At all levels there are great photo opportunities and you can feed masses of fish (fish food bought at entrance) levels 1-2 are easy for most people but 3-5 (5 is top) requires a little agility and fitness.

It's a nice spot with a series of waterfalls It's a bit costly for what you get. My Thai wife was of the opinion that other waterfalls in Thailand were better value. But you can splash in the water and there are many fish and butterflies and bees😳.

A place for a mini-adventure. The waterfall has 5 stages, but just getting to stage 3 takes about 45 min. - 1 hr. already. Feel free to explore the whole waterfall if you wish. It's a lush and refreshing place with lots of fish in the water. The trekking trails are rugged and could get muddy and slippery when wet though. The waterfall is accessible only by car or motorcycle. But that makes it not a crowded destination to visit and enjoy your free day out in the nature.

According to the park officers, the waterfall has 15 levels in total, but for safety reasons, visitors are allowed to go only up to level 5. The surroundings are lush and peaceful. I visited on a weekday, and there was no waiting time.

300฿ for foreigners and a 30฿ vehicle fee. Nice place to visit with a cooler temperature and refreshing bathing opportunities. Can feed fish on the many ponds. Waterfall has 5 levels open for all. Trail is so and so, rocks can be slippery and a difficult and hazardous hike for those impaired. 20 min hike from level 1 to 5.
