You can hike this alone but at some sections, particularly when crossing the river, it isn't clear when to cross and where to walk on the other side. I managed it alone and without a gpx file but lost the path on various occasions. Coming back was much easier because I knew where the path was. I will upload the gpx file on wildlifethailand.com forum , do a search. If you walk it without guide or GPS, i think there is a high chance to not make it, or worse, to get lost. Anyway it's 7km from the point where the first sign is (sign says 6km). You cross the stream 4 times in total. Once early on after about 500m, 2 more times around the 3km mark, and one final time at about km6. Officially it's only open for a couple of months about feb-april. The rest of the year you can walk it but you wouldnt have permission to do so. When I went there was nobody around and there is no ranger station or anything else around. Start the hike at these coordinates 14.9758969, 98.6825563 this is the furthest point you can drive to. I've uploaded pictures of typical sections of river, trail, the camping area and the waterfalls. And a snake, it's a keelback, not dangerous.

เย็นศุกร์พักที่หน่วยพิทักษ์เกริงกระเวียก่อน เช้า 8.00 น. ลงทะเบียน เจ้าหน้าที่พานั่งรถ ไปจุดเริ่มเดินป่า ทางราบเยอะเดินสบาย มีเนินเขาเป็นช่วงๆ เหนื่อยใช้ได้ เดินไปที่กางเต็นท์ 8 กม. แล้วเดินต่อไปเล่นน้ำตก อีก 1 กม. นำ้ตกเย็นมาก ริมน้ำใส่ขวดมากินมีไอขึ้นข้างขวดด้วย
เป็นการเดินป่าที่น่าจะง่ายที่สุดเท่าที่เคยเดินมาเลยมั้ง ระหว่างเดินวิวไม่ได้สวยอะไรมากเพราะเป็นป่าไผ่ก็ครึ่งทางแล้ว แต่ปลายทางจัดว่าเด็ดมากกางเต็นท์ริมลำธาร เดินไปเที่ยวน้ำตกก็ไม่ไกลแถมเดินไม่ยาก ใครคิดจะหัดเดินป่าที่แรกๆแนะนำที่นี่อีกที่นึงครับ
