Chiang Mai
5.0(5 reviews)

Apuchi New is located in a large orange orchard with views of Doi Luang Chiang Dao and operates only during the winter and rainy seasons. The camping area is arranged in terraced levels, with each spot being relatively compact and best suited for small tents. The lowest terrace serves as a morning viewpoint overlooking Doi Luang Chiang Dao and the sea of mist. The site provides solar-powered electricity, though campers should bring long extension cords. Hot water is supplied through a gas heating system, and the restrooms are simple but well maintained. Visitors should bring their own food and beverages, though arrangements can be made with the owner in advance. Overnight parking accommodation is available, and pets are permitted. The access road is narrow, winding, and steep, requiring horn use at blind corners. Upon reaching a three-way junction, turn left into the village and contact the owner for guidance through the final 800 meters of dirt road. The fee is 200 baht per person per night, and equipment rental is not available.

We rode our bikes through the national park from Chiang Dao to Pai... had no idea it was half a dirt track, awfully slippery when wet. Took a long time but boy that was an adventure! If you're not super experienced in riding bikes, stick to the main park, there are no advantages to this road other than the adventure. We stopped at a little town (the only one) for lunch and it was lovely!).
